Cellar Conversion | Taking and Waterproofing
September 2021
It wasn’t long after Rob and Elaine moved into their property before they noticed signs of damp in their cellar and called us in. The floors were saturated and it was clear to see the previous owners had cut many corners to turn their cellar into a room without following the proper procedures.
We stripped everything back to the shell including all the walls, chipboard flooring and insulation. We then dug a channel around the perimeter that led to an outside drain, this worked perfectly to take out any water that had penetrated through the walls.
After we membraned the walls and floor, we put down insulation and laid a new chipboard floor. Our electrician came to assist with the first round of fixing the electrics, all the walls were then plastered and skimmed as well as fitting the new skirting boards. Our plumber then installed a utility room and two radiators before our electrician came for a second time to finish his fix, leaving Rob and Elaine with a space to carpet and decorate to a beautiful standard.
